The Selectiva is a new selective soldering machine for Through-Hole components based on the Spark 100 platform.
It uses a powerful laser and conventional solder wire to solder component leads from the bottom side. The machine is available in two configurations:
1. Offline machine - Selectiva Xs.
2. Inline machine - Selectiva Xi.

New Auto CAD Creation Option for the Selectiva
Many customers such as sub-contractors have a hard time getting the original CAD file for their boards.
In other cases previous process deforms the board before entering the Selectiva for soldering.
The new CAD Creation option includes a software module and a backlighting kit. It helps the customer in creating fast and automatic CAD files directly from the board using machine vision technique.
The Process Description:
The user loads the board as usual. He defines the board length manually, and then click the "Start Scan" button.
Backlighting enhances the pin drills while the bottom camera scans the board and finds the drills (pads).
In a few minutes the process is completed and the pads are categorized by their sizes. The operator can then decide to ignore some pad sizes, and he gets a complete list of the left pads and a view of the board.
The operator then saves the new CAD for future use.
Built in AOI Module for the Selectiva
AOI machines for inspection of PCB before and after the soldering process exist for quite some time.
Soldering machines with AOI is a new concept.
The Selectiva machine incorporates an AOI option for inspection during the soldering process, thus performs the process of two machines in one.
The Major Advantages of this Method is:
1. The inspection can detect soldering problems in an earlier stage of the process and stop it before the board is completed and in some cases even before the soldering is performed (ex. missing component).
2. Correction of the soldering can be made immediately in case of insufficient solder – Find & Repair.
The Process Description:
The AOI module can perform the inspection after soldering of every lead or a complete board.
It compares the image of the soldered lead to a previously taught model of this lead type and faulty leads. A score is given and the AOI defines which type of problem that lead has, or if it’s soldered good.
The AOI module mimic the human brain in its operation way. It is supplied with some knowledge of what is good soldering and bad soldering. But the operator can decide to re-teach it or add other types of soldered pads.
